얼마전 MoMA에서 운영하는 무료 온라인 미술사 강좌 수업이 있다고 알려드렸는데요. 저도 들어가보려고 북마크 겸 포스팅해두었는데, 반응이 좋았습니다. 그래서, 이번에는 저번에 알려드린 수업 말고 또 다른 수업에 대해서도 알려드리려 합니다. MoMA에서 몇가지 수업을 제공하고 있던데, MoMA 사이트 들어가 보신 분들이라면 다 아시겠죠? 저는 개인적으로 평소에 어렵게 느껴지던 철학과 미술과의 관계, 그리고 개념 정립이 쉽지 않은 포스트모더니즘에 관련된 수업도 좋다고 생각되어 다시 한번 더 알려드립니다. 개인차는 있겠지만, 혹 평소에 위의 문제들에 대해서 궁금증은 있었지만, 알 기회가 없었다고 생각되시면 한번 들어보세요. 현대미술이 얼마나 철학적 이슈들과 깊은 연관이 있는지 다들 아시죠? 그리고 포스트모더니즘에 대한 개념이 얼마나 복잡한가도요. 늘 궁금했지만, 우리는 늘 다른 일로 바빠서 찾아볼 틈은 없었잖아요?
온라인 강의 특성상 처음에 알아듣기 힘들었다면 여러번 같은 수업을 반복해 듣는 것도 가능하니까, 여유있게 여러번 들어봐도 좋을듯 합니다. 그리고, 저번에 설명을 빠뜨렸는데, 무료 강의도 있고, 일정 금액 ($45)을 결제하면 수료증을 지급받을 수도 있더라구요. 얼마나 법적 효력이 있는지는 모르겠지만, 수강생들의 동기 부여 차원에서나, 프로그램의 제작 경비 충당면에서나 그 정도의 금액을 책정한건 나쁜 아이디어는 아닌듯해요.
저번에도 언급했지만, MoMA는 이제까지도 탁월한 교육프로그램을 제공하고 있어서, 저도 수업준비하면서 많은 도움을 받고는 했습니다. 온라인 수업은 이번에 처음 들어봤지만, 각계의 전문가들이 가급적 평이한 언어로 쉽게 진행하고 있어서 도움이 많이 될 것 같아요. 어차피 외출을 맘껏 할 수 있는 것도 아니고, 집안에서 할 수 있는 것도 제한적이라면, 이 참에 공부라도 잔뜩 해두면 좋을 것 같아요.

I have introduced free online art history classes the other day, which was highly responsive. I realize that the Covid-19 hinders for outdoor activities, many get bored at home. Well, I will introduce another class which I'm personally taking. Hey! it is free anyway! There is an option you can get a certificate if you pay $45.00. (The cost seems reasonable. The students might get more motivated ; the production cost need to be covered somehow.)
Anyone who visited the website may already know, there are several other classes offered other than the one I introduced last time. Personally, I found the courses on The Modern and the Postmodern I & The Modern and the Postmodern II interesting and useful. This course helps me understand some philosophical issues and postmodern theories. Contemporary art is always intertwined with Philosophy, and it tends to be always difficult. And we don't have time to learn about it. Why don't we take an opportunities to learn about philosophical ideas and postmodernism while we can't go out anywhere anyway?
